Anyone who says hazing is illegal doesn't have kids. I'm living proof that hazing is alive and well, and we've been through one hell of an initiation the last couple weeks. People have said that life with a newborn starts to get easier after the first six weeks. For us, that's right about when the true initiation trials kicked in. Baby is absolutely wonderful and happy and mellow. But a nasty virus has taken over our home, and driven me almost to the brink. I am grateful that it wasn't worse. I know it can always be worse.
BUT, having a toddler with the flu, bronchiolitis and pneumonia; and a newborn with bronchiolitis so bad that he had to be hospitalized for a night; and sick parents, all at the same time, has been pretty damn hard. I am so sleep deprived that I don't know up from down, and honestly, I'm not totally sure how I am making it through each day without snapping. I think just knowing that my kids need me and that I am lucky they are getting better is enough to give me the strength to stay happy and patient even when running on fumes.
Hopefully all will be well again in our home soon. However, we plan to stay on major quarantine for the rest of the cold and flu season. I'm not sure my sanity would survive another run like this.
And just to break your heart, take a look at this picture of my poor little Granger (Griffin looked 10 times worse, so I coudn't bear to even document how he looked).
I really like that. You touched my heart!
